Creating a home is an incredibly personal undertaking—and a significant one. Our role is to make the process feel thoughtful, collaborative, and well considered from beginning to end.

At MBC Design, we believe the best projects begin early. Whether we're working alongside an architect on a new home or joining a renovation while plans are still taking shape, early collaboration allows us to consider how the home will function, how the spaces will connect, and how the architecture can support the way you want to live.

From the initial conversation through installation, we manage the details, decisions, and moving pieces that bring the larger vision together.

01 — The Consultation

Every project begins with a conversation.

We'll discuss your home, your goals, the scope of the project, and how you envision living in the space. We'll also talk through our process, anticipated investment, and timeline to determine whether MBC Design is the right fit for your project.

For larger projects, we typically begin working with clients during the early architectural stages. This allows us to become involved before important decisions are finalized and ensures the design of the home is considered as a whole.

02 — The Foundation

Once we're engaged, we begin by understanding the home—and the people who will live in it.

We review architectural plans, existing conditions, and the ways each space needs to function. We consider everything from room relationships and furniture placement to cabinetry, lighting, circulation, and architectural details.

This foundational work creates a framework for the design and allows us to make thoughtful decisions before moving into the finer details.

03 — The Design

With the foundation established, the design begins to take shape.

We develop the overall aesthetic and then work room by room, carefully considering architecture, millwork, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing, finishes, furnishings, fabrics, and artwork.

Our goal is not to make every room match. Instead, we create a sense of continuity throughout the home, layering materials, colors, textures, and furnishings so that the finished space feels collected and cohesive.

Throughout this phase, we'll present the design, gather your feedback, and refine the details together.

04 — The Details

Once the design is approved, we turn our attention to the many details required to bring it to life.

We coordinate specifications, drawings, pricing, ordering, and procurement across the project. We work closely with architects, builders, cabinetmakers, trades, and vendors to ensure that the design is carried through accurately.

This is where much of the behind-the-scenes work happens—and where thoughtful coordination can make a significant difference to the finished home.

05 — Bringing It to Life

As construction progresses, we remain involved to help ensure the design is executed as intended.

We coordinate with the construction team, answer design questions, review details, and make decisions as conditions evolve on site. We understand that renovation and construction projects rarely unfold exactly as planned, and our role is to help navigate those moments while keeping the larger vision intact.

As furnishings and finishes arrive, we coordinate deliveries, installation, and the final placement of each piece.

06 — The Final Layer

The final stage is where everything comes together.

Furnishings are installed, artwork is placed, textiles are layered, and the details are refined. It's the moment when all of the individual decisions made throughout the project begin to feel like one cohesive home.

The finished result should feel considered without feeling overly designed—beautiful, comfortable, and reflective of the people who live there.
